Mausoleopsis amabilis amabilis is a subspecies of the white-spotted fruit chafer beetle. It is a member of the beetle order Coleoptera, the scarabaeiform beetle infraorder, and the fruit and flower chafer subfamily.
Description
Mausoleopsis amabilis amabilis is a solid, black beetle with white spots on its abdomen and chest carapace. It has a black head, short antennae with a club, and is about 15–18 mm in size.
Behavior
Mausoleopsis amabilis amabilis eats decaying plant matter, fungi, dung, and sometimes garden plants. It is a particular pest of flower blooms.
Habitat
Mausoleopsis amabilis amabilis can be found in Southern Africa, including Napier in the Western Cape.
