The cream to sulphur-yellow hooded flowers turn reddish with age and have an acrid scent.
A slender plant up to 35cm tall with oblong-lanceolate leaves that encircle the stem. Bracts ellliptic-acute. Lip deltate - flat. Frequently forms dense colonies. Flowers mostly after fire.
