Information
Wagon Tree, Waboom (Afr)
The name waboom (wagon tree) was already recorded in 1720. The wood of the tree was used to make wheel rims and brake blocks for wagons. One can see the the big, light grey green leafed Protea nitida with it's big white to yellowish flowers during a slow drive through Clarence Drive between Gordon's Bay and Rooiels.
