Aloe arborescens
Information
Candelabra Aloe. Krantz aloe (English), kransaalwyn, boomaalwyn (Afrikaans)
Don’t you just love the way these
aloes brighten our winters, flowering from sea level to mountain top? Aloe
arborescens was one of the first south Afican aloes collected and planted in
the Company’s Garden in the Cape. It is probably the most widely cultivated
aloe in the world.
The health properties of Aloe
aborescens became well known after the sap was used to treat irradiation burn
victims of Hiroshima.
Today the sap is used medicinally
and in skincare products. It is also used in a variety of food and drinks, once
the bitter taste has been removed. Candelabra aloe, kransaalwyn.
