Erica thomae var. thomae
Information
White Flypaper Heath
Erica Thomae var. Thomae is a range-restricted
(about 150 km²) endemic to the Kogelberg Mountains. Although rare, its habitat
is well protected and it is not threatened. We had a colony of both the Erica
Thomae var. Thomae and var. Porterii, but it was destroyed by road
construction.
Now after about two years, there is one Erica
Thomae var. Thomae flowering.
There is still no sign of the threatened Erica
Thomae var. Porterii which used to flower in the same area. We will keep you
informed.
