Leucadendron coniferum (Dune Conebush) is a dioecious, evergreen shrub or small tree (up to 4m) endemic to Western Cape coastal sands. It features narrow, silvery-grey leaves (red-tinged in winter) on red stems, with bright yellow, bract-covered,, conelike flowers in late winter (August-September). As a fire-adapted species, it stores seeds in woody cones.
